Just as the name suggests, The Hurricane Alley band is a force to be reckoned with! Carefully curated music, people, and styles is what makes this band truly unique and special. With a brand-new lineup of talented individuals, The Hurricane Alley band promises to entertain the masses with its eclectic song choices, and upbeat performances.
Allison Hancock, Lead Vocals
I joined a Church literally just so I could join the choir because the school choir and theatre group was just not enough. I began learning guitar basics from my uncle and bought my first guitar at 10 and began studying vocal music in high school. Fast-forward to 16, I began singing and playing my own material in various open mics around the GTA. After a 15 year or or so break, I began picking music back up by joining a number of bands and projects and formed The Hurricane Alley in 2020.
After a brief break, and an entire lineup change in 2022, The Hurricane Alley is back and better than ever!
John Scharf, Drums
An early exposure to the arts started with Claude Watson School for the Arts in North York in the 80s began my love for music - yet it was neighborhood friends back then that introduced me to Rush - and so began the exploration of the drums as an instrument and musical conduit. Through tribute bands, local cover bands, and almost 100 shows later, the ongoing experience of playing music has (and is) an amazing one! I am very happy to be a part of The Hurricane Alley, and share our style of music with everyone

Graham Lee, Bass
Nine, little words started a lifetime of dedication and passion...nine little words would guide him through a journey that he would never have imagined...nine little words resulted in the four strings that would power the rhythm and that would drive him...
Those words were: "You're really bad at guitar, you should play bass!" He listened to those words of wisdom and never looked back
Michael Pohlmann, Rhythm & Lead Guitar & Backing Vocals
I started guitar lessons at 7 years old when I got my first acoustic. I hated the lessons as I was playing music I didn't like. So, I got an electric guitar and learned "Smoke on the Water" and drove my parents crazy. In high school, I played in the school jazz band as well as a few rock bands and graduated to playing bars in Simcoe County. Music then came to a halt in 1982 when University and real life happened. I played a little over the years but really got back into playing music in 2017, joining various bands and playing live gigs. I am totally dedicated to advancing The Hurricane Alley forward with great music for all.
Steve Smyth, Rhythm & Lead Guitar & Backing Vocals
I started playing as a teenager but like many, career and family took priority over playing.
Fast forward to a few years ago and I rediscovered my passion for making music and made it my goal to get in to the music scene. I took lessons in classical and blues under Gary Gontier. I played in a couple of bands over the last few years and found my way here in The Hurricane Alley.
Looking forward to rocking the house and live up to the name by also bringing it down!
Cathy de Roeper, Keys & Backing Vocals
I started playing piano when I was 7 years old and was classically trained with private music lessons until I was around 18 or so when movies, boys, sports and my social life seemed to be much more fun than practicing my piano, so the lessons stopped. I began teaching piano and organ part time for several years, but then marriage and raising a child soon took priority and so, once again, the lessons stopped. Musical influences have been Carole King, Billy Joel, Elton John, Chicago and Supertramp. My father was a musician so family sing songs have always kept me playing the piano but it wasn’t until an open jam at my local marina in 2012 when I met a guitar player who invited me to join a project he was starting. Well, I was hooked! Imagine going from living room sing songs to playing in a real bar in front of real people! After several lineup changes and also playing with multiple musicians over the years; and over 80 gigs later, I’m still banging the keys and I’m excited to be a part of The Hurricane Alley.
